MCSO: 9 abused horses seized from Buckeye property
BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - Maricopa County sheriff's deputies have seized nine abused or neglected horses from a property in Buckeye.
They say one of the horses is Clydesdale that is underweight by as much as 800 pounds.
Deputies served a search warrant on the property about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after MCSO received a letter about the conditions of the animals.
They say there were 11 horses on the property and nine were taken for treatment.
Those horses then will be taken by the sheriff's office as evidence or to be put up for adoption.
Sheriff's officials say the owner of the horses will face an undetermined number of animal cruelty charges.
Deputies say 13 dogs and a goat were also found on the property, but weren't seized even though some dogs needed medical attention.
