Lopez step down from Ariz. Senate leadership post

PHOENIX (AP) - Democratic state senators will meet next week to a fill a vacancy in their leadership ranks.
   
The Arizona Capitol Times reports that Sen. Linda Lopez stepped down as assistant minority leader, saying she has a new job that demands more of her time.
   
Senate Minority Leader Leah Landrum Taylor says her caucus will meet Oct. 29 to pick a new assistant minority leader.
   
Lopez will remain a senator.
   
She joined the Legislature in 2001, first serving in the House before being elected to the Senate in 2008.
