TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - According to Pima County Sheriff's deputies, Tuesday night, detectives busted an illegal grow operation on the Northside.
Deputy Jesus Banuelos tells KGUN9 that on the afternoon of September 10, 2013, detectives began an investigation regarding several complaints of suspicious activity at a home in the 8800 block of North Marathon Drive.
"There should be people inside the house or living there, but there was nobody there," one neighbor told 9OYS.
"Everybody on this street and the streets all around this neighborhood are families with kids and it just totally stood out," another neighbor added.
While at the home, they noticed a man exiting a back door and attempting to leave the property, said Suitt. He was quickly detained and questioned about the activity at the home.
During the course of the investigation a warrant was obtained and served at the home.
Live marijuana plants in various stages of growth were confiscated as evidence and the marijuana growing operation was dismantled.
While detectives were on scene, the suspect complained he was feeling ill and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Deputies say charges are pending.
