CREATED Aug. 5, 2013

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 25-year-old man suffered injuries while hiking in Sabino Canyon near Seven Falls.

Deputy Tracy Suitt with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that on August 4, the PCSD air unit was requested to assist with a rescue in the Seven Falls area.

Reports indicated a 25-year-old male fell and possibly broke his ankle and received a laceration on his head. Bystanders at the scene assisted the injured male with his injuries until help arrived, said Suitt.

Rescue personnel responded to the location, along with the helicopter. A rescue deputy was lowered via the hoist, in order to access the injured male.  He was placed on a stretcher and put in a Baumann Bag before being hoisted to the helicopter.

The injured male was flown to a landing zone in the Sabino Canyon area where he was transferred to an ambulance and transported to an area hospital for further medical treatment.
