TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - More than 2.8 million people are breast cancer survivors. And doctors say, treating the side effects of cancer treatment, is just as important as the treatment itself.
Healing Spirit Boutique at University of Arizona Medical Center is set up right in the lobby of the Cancer Center. It's designed to help women look and feel more like their pre-cancer selves.
"When ladies have been diagnosed with cancer, they're going through that emotional turmoil, then to be told they're going to lose their hair, a lot of ladies think, I can deal with that, but when it actually comes down to it and they look a themselves in the mirror, they're crying because they really can't go through it. And they have a support system, but it's not their internal support. And they need that wig to give them strength," said Marcy Munoz.
It carries everything from wigs for women you are undergoing chemotherapy, to breast prosthesis, to post-surgery bras and lingerie.
