Former high school swim coach indicted on child porn charges

CREATED Oct. 16, 2013

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A former high school swim coach arrested on child pornography charges now faces four felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor under fifteen.

A Pima County Grand Jury indicted Bruce Rock, 49, on Tuesday.

Following his arrest last month, the Marana Unified School District terminated Rock from his job as a swimming coach at Mountain View High School.

After obtaining the police search warrant revealing new details about the child pornography investigation, 9 On Your Side spoke with attorney Mike Piccarreta about the seriousness of the crime.

"People that think I'm just looking at photos and not harming anybody," he said. "You are harming somebody. You're revictimizing the person in the photo."

According to police reports, Rock revictimized two girls by uploading naked and sexually suggestive photos of them to a Tumblr blog he ran under the name "NudeMale48."

The other two counts against Rock stem from evidence of possessing illegal images.

In late September, detectives searched Rock's Marana home in the 8200 block of North Willow Blossom Drive, seizing 25 pieces of evidence, including multiple laptop computers, cell phones and other electronic file sharing devices.

"When your computer is seized there is no such thing as deletion," Piccarreta said.

Piccarreta told 9 On Your Side if convicted on all four counts, Rock could spend decades in prison.

"It is a little bit unusual when there are only a few," Piccarreta said. " However, in the law even one is too many."
