TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Traffic slowed to a crawl on Ajo Way and I-10 near the Kino Parkway off-ramp this morning as police pursued what turned out to be a known felon.
Tucson Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Widmer tells KGUN9 the pursuit began near I-10 and 6th Avenue around 8 a.m. when officers attempted to arrest 31-year-old Benjamin Peinado for outstanding felony warrants.
Officers struggled with Peinado who was resisting arrest. He was then tased by officers, said Widmer.
After being tased, Peinado ran from officers and a short foot chase ensued. He was apprehended near Ajo Way and Bernard Drive.
Both the suspect and two of the arresting officers sustained minor injuries, said Widmer.
KGUN9 has a crew at the scene and will let you know as soon as more details become available.
