TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Five patients have been transported from a traffic collision on Tucson's southside.
The crash happened on Park Avenue north of Drexel Road around 5:40 p.m. Sunday. According to witnesses, the driver of a Ford pickup was pulling out of a smoke shop onto Park Avenue when a Chevy pickup heading southbound t-boned him.
Tucson Fire Captain Barrett Baker there was four people in one truck and one in another, and that all five people involved were transported from the scene on advanced life support.
"Given the level of intrusion on one of the vehicles in particular and that it appears that it was a t-bone accident, at this point there's that possibility that you're having injuries on the inside which we might not be able to see from the outside," Baker said. "It's very important that we transport those patients to the hospital as quickly as possible."
Tucson Police are investigating the crash.
Park Avenue between Irvington and Drexel roads were closed for five hours following the crash.
