Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire says smoke and flames were billowing out of an apartment fire in the 2300 block of West Ina Road, near Ina Road and La Cholla Blvd.
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Northwest Fire responded to a Catalina Canyon apartment complex at 2300 W Ina just before 5:00 pm Sunday.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a second-floor unit with flames traveling to the patio of the third-floor unit above.
Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire tells KGUN 9 that initial reports from neighbors suggested that the unit’s occupants may still be inside. Fire crews engaged in an interior search and fire fight, but no occupants were found.
Crews had advanced hose line into the structure continuing the interior fire fight and kept the fire contained to the second story unit and patio above.
The fire was extinguished within minutes of the first arriving engine with no resident or firefighter injuries reported.
All occupants of those 12 units have been displaced until the utilities can be safely restored. Northwest Fire District’s Community Assistance Team and the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Red Cross are collaborating with the apartment complexe management company to assist with housing needs.
