Fast electric vehicle charging now available in Tucson
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Rising gas prices are nothing new to drivers, but imagine if you could fuel up for free. One store in Tucson is making that possible.
For decades, gasoline has been the standard for transportation, but as prices continue rising, a new form of fuel is slowly catching on, electricity. Say hello to the GOe3 charger -- the fastest electric vehicle charger in Tucson according to Bookman's President Sean Feeney.
"One of the reasons we have been in the reuse business for years is that it's a great value for the customer and a great value for the community, and it reduces waste," said Feeney. "The electric vehicles in general have always fit with our ethics and business model and frankly its an attraction."
49,000 watts of solar energy coming from panels installed on the roof to power not only the store, but they also supply the machines that charge electric cars.
With more and more drivers hitting the road in the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf, charging stations like Blink are popping up -- 9OYS found one near Speedway and Kolb.
All Bookmans stores offer free electric vehicle charging, but add a small fee to use the fast charger which can fully power a car in about an hour.
