Family of boy killed by deputy speaks out
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The family of 10-year-old Xavier Sanchez spoke with 9 On Your Side Wednesday, saying they need help paying for the boy's funeral.
In an interview, Xavier Sanchez' father opens up to KGUN9 and is understandably distraught at the thought of having to bury his 10-year-old.
Xavier Sanchez died Monday when a Pima County Sheriff's deputy hit him as he was running across Campbell Avenue.
Xavier's father Vincent says he was a sweet, caring boy who was protective of his family.
"He took my boy's life," said Vincent. "My son was so innocent and didn't hurt nobody and now he's gone. I'm never gonna see my son grow, he's not gonna have a life no more."
The family will hold a special event this Sunday to raise money for funeral expenses.
It will take place at The Branding Iron, 5442 S. 12th Ave. starting at Noon.
Food will be $5 a plate and all donations go toward his memorial fund.
Donations can also be made at any Wells Fargo bank by depositing in account number 7407196422.
