TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - It's been 611 days since Sergio and Becky Celis last saw their daughter, Isabel. But while every day is difficult, the family said days like Christmas are even harder.
The Celis family invited only Nine On Your Side into their home, where the gifts are wrapped and the tree is lit, but normal traditions like decorating are anything but while Isa is missing.
"That's just not the way it should be," Becky Celis said. "The whole family isn't here so it's not complete, so the feeling isn't complete."
The Celis family remembers the last time the family was complete on Christmas: Back when Isa was just six years old and Santa surprised her with a puppy.
"That little face...that little face. Sitting there holding Honey; it was just really cool. Nothing else mattered: She couldn't believe she had her little puppy," the Celis family shared.
Now her parents are forced to wonder what 8-year-old Isa would want for Christmas this year.
As time and the holidays pass, the presents pile up in her room. Her family said that when she comes home, they want her to see that she has something for every holiday she has missed; that even though she's not here, she's still a part of those memories.
"We're still going to go up to her picture and give her a kiss and tell her, 'Merry Christmas,' and then come home," Becky Celis said.
"Is there hope for a Christmas Mirace?" Nine On Your Side's Simone Del Rosario asked.
"Oh my god: There's always hope...there's always hope."
