TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A family of six has been temporarily displaced after a fire broke out in their carport on Tuesday morning.
Capt. Barrett Baker tells KGUN9 that crews responded to the 5200 block of East 28th Street after receiving multiple 911 calls about a carport fire just before 3 a.m.
The oldest child woke up to the smell of smoke and saw a glow outside the home, said Baker. He woke everyone up and they made it outside the home safely.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to a vehicle and carport. The brick wall on the home kept flames from bursting inside, Baker said.
Building safety officials have responded to to determine whether the home is safe for the family, said Baker.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
