TUCSON (KGUN9-NEWS) - Tucson environmentalists staged a demonstration Thursday to protest the state Game and Fish Department's recent killing of two mountain lions that preyed on Big Horn Sheep in the Catalinas. The sheep had recently been released into the rugged mountains to repopulate the area.
Game and Fish says rangers killed the cats in an effort to keep predators at bay so the sheep population can flourish in the mountains North of Tucson. The agency says it's part of an ongoing "Administrative Plan" that has been in effect for some years.
