SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Three endangered crocodiles have hatched at a Scottsdale reptile sanctuary.
The Phoenix Herpetological Society said the male Nile crocodiles hatched late Friday. Officials say eight female Nile crocs are expected to hatch in a few days.
The reptile sanctuary is participating in an Endangered Species Repopulation Breeding Project with several highly endangered species pairs, some of which are the only ones in the United States.
Offspring will be placed in qualified zoos or other sanctuaries for public education and conservation.
