Driver loses control of vehicle in Gates Pass, two women injured
Two women sustained injuries after they lost control of their vehicle and drove off of the road while driving in Gates Pass early Saturday morning.
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two women sustained injuries after they lost control of their vehicle and drove off of the road while driving in Gates Pass early Saturday morning.
Emergency medical personnel with the Northwest Fire Department responded to an area near Speedway Blvd and Anklam Road just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday after a vehicle ran off the road, according to Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire.
Once on scene, crews discovered that the driver of the vehicle had lost control and ran off of the road, traveling down an embankment approximately 40 feet, Goldberg said.
Crews located two women inside the car, a 20-year-old and a 21-year-old. One woman was trapped and both sustained injuries in the crash, according to Goldberg.
Crews with the Drexel Heights Fire District responded to assist in the extrication of the women, Goldberg said.
The 20-year-old woman was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The 21-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries, according to Goldberg.
The women were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, Goldberg said.
Pima County Sheriff's deputies are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
