Deputies seeking suspect in Oak Creek Canyon attack
Took a trip up to Mt. Lemmon yesterday (Sun 7-10) -- went up near the Mt. Lemmon Sky Center and there were patches of hail left over from Saturday's deluge--unexpected--one image shows Aspen leaves knocked off the trees from the force of the hail. Photo: Image by John A. Ey III
OAK CREEK CANYON (KGUN9-TV) - Coconino County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for the person they claim sexually assaulted a Tucson woman who was sightseeing in Oak Creek Canyon on Wednesday.
According to the victim, she stopped to look at the creek while she was on her way back home. She said while she was standing near her car, someone came up behind her and both physically and sexually assaulted her, then ran away.
Deputies describe the suspect as Caucasian, mid to late forties in age, with medium length dark colored hair, a "scraggly" dark beard and a moustache. He was last seen wearing brown pants with side pockets, a dark colored sweatshirt and cowboy boots.
Detectives believe he could have been armed when he assaulted the woman.
