PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man's body has been found inside a Prescott Valley apartment after his two children spent hours throwing items off a second-story balcony.

Prescott Valley police didn't immediately release the name of the deceased 31-year-old man Tuesday.

They say it's unclear why the 2-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy were throwing cans, knives and water bottles off the balcony.

Police say the two might have been trying to get people's attention.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex Sunday night, the children wouldn't let them through the door.

Police were able to enter through a window and found the man's body.

It's unknown how long the man had been dead. The cause and manner of death are under investigation, but police suspect drugs could have been a factor.
