TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A cyclist traveling down Mount Lemmon collided with a pickup truck Wednesday morning, according to Pima County Sheriff's deputies.
Rural/Metro Fire Department crews rushed to the scene around mile post 4.5 and transported the cyclist, a male in his mid-20s, to the trauma center at University Medical Center. Rural/Metro said his injuries are not life threatening.
Deputies are investigating the accident, but no citations have been issued to the driver or the cyclist.
Rural/Metro warns drivers to give the right-of-way to cyclists on roadways, particularly in high-traffic areas like Mount Lemmon.
The department also urges cyclists to ride with proper safety gear, bright clothing, and let family or friends know where you are riding and for how long.
