TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Congressman Ron Barber is helping make sure local soldiers get a hardy, warm meal they can be thankful for.
Barber met with active-duty and retired members of the military and their families at today's Thanksgiving Day lunch at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Barber and his wife Nancy also helped serve the meal.
"It is an honor for me to have this opportunity to celebrate this holiday and hear from the men and women who serve our country, veterans and their families," Barber said. "Thanksgiving always has been a special day in our family and one of the things that I am most thankful for are the dedicated men and women in our armed forces."
On the menu today...shrimp cocktail, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beans, steamed corn, peas and carrots, turkey, ham and roast beef. And for desert, the service men and woman will enjoy pumpkin and pecan pies with ice cream.
