TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The generosity from members of the community made it possible for the Palo Verde High School softball teams to not miss a pitch after someone stole their equipment over the weekend.

The J.V. team coach discovered Monday morning that someone broke into their locked dugout and wiped the storage area clean of everything, including bases, helmets, and catcher's protective gear.

Palo Verde High School filed a stolen property report with the Tucson Police Department.
Police visited local sports goods stores, such as Play It Again Sports, to alert them to be on the lookout for the stolen softball gear.
After parents also reached out to the store, Play It Again Sports decided to donate $1,600 of new gear to the Palo Verde softball teams, owner Jason West told 9 On Your Side
The teams at Pueblo and Sahuaro High Schools also lent equipment to help the girls play their scheduled games Tuesday.

Both teams played Empire High School Tuesday afternoon. The JV game was moved to a road game because of the stolen equipment.
