TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - After 44 years dedicated to fire service in Tucson, Albert Pesqueira announced his retirement and will serve his last day on Friday.

Pesqueira, better known as Chief Al, is an Assistant Chief of Support Services at Northwest Fire District.

He spent 17 years at Northwest Fire, after serving more than 27 years with Tucson Fire.

Pesqueira earned a Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Fire Service Management and an Associates of Applied Science degree from Pima Community College.

In 2010, Pesqueira and his wife Elsa produced a documentary on the Pioneer Hotel Fire, of which Pesqueira responded to as a 21-year-old firefighter.
