TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Catalina High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning while police searched the campus and surrounding area for a student seen with a gun.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 police received a call from school administration to report a student had been seen on campus with a handgun around 8:10 a.m.
Police arrested 17-year-old Tyler Renfro, and he is being charged as an adult with aggravated assault and participating in street gang activity.
Police say Renfro threatened another student with an airsoft gun, not a handgun, and a knife.
Police searched the area and 3 male students were initially detained.
Police recovered the airsoft gun.
The lockdown was lifted once a thorough search of the area had been completed and the students were allowed back on school grounds.
