TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A family of five has been displaced after a car fire spread to their home.
TFD responded to a call regarding a vehicle fire in the 400 block of East Fairground Dr.
When they arrived they found three cars, two ATV's, two storage sheds and the roof of a home on fire.
All family members had already evacuated.
Firefighters deployed hose lines to the back of the house where the cars were, a long with the house.
There were electrical hazards that firefighters were cautious of.
Twenty-six firefighters responded to the fire and had it in control after eleven minutes.
Someone in the family had been working on a car when it burst into flames.
The man could not extinguish it and made sure to evacuate the rest of his family.
Most of the fire did not spread into the living space.
Three adults and two children that live in the house will be temporarily displaced.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The cause is an electrical and battery malfunction.
Damage costs have not been determined.
Safety Message from TFD: Multiple calls were made to 9-1-1 to report smoke and flames. The earlier 9-1-1 is called, the faster fire department resources can get to the scene. Call immediately if you see smoke. Having a working smoke alarm can also notify your neighbors to a problem, in the case that you are not home.
