TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson landmark restaurant the Bum Steer will be sold online to the highest bidder.

The restaurant, at 1910 N. Stone Ave., opened in the 1970s and was a popular college-crowd hotspot before closing in 2010. Now it will be sold at AuctionAZ.com Aug. 1-6.

"The Bum Steer has a lot of potential as a brew pub, another bar or a variety of other uses," said George Cunningham, President and CEO of Cunningham and Assoc., Inc. and AuctionAZ.com, in a news release.  "The land alone is extremely valuable.  This is going to be a great deal for whoever ends up buying it."

Founded by a group of airline pilots, the restaurant is decorated with relics from a Hollywood studio backlot that shuttered in the 70s.

The property will be open for potential bidders from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
