TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A family of three has been displaced from their home after a blow torch was used to burn weeds caused a fire.
Capt. Barrett Baker with Tucson Fire tells KGUN9 that crews responded to the 7700 block of South Delia Stone Court.
Several calls were made reporting smoke from the house, including one from the resident stating that flames were going up the walls.
The crew found two men in the home trying to extinguish the fire with a garden hose, said Baker. The house was quickly filling with smoke and the two men were told to evacuate immediately.
The crews could see flames in the wall and immediately began opening up the wall to gain better access to extinguish the fire, said Baker. The flames had made their way up the entire interior wall of the home.
Red Cross was not needed at the scene as the displaced residents were going to be able to stay with relatives, said Baker.
The displaced include a 25-year old man, a 22 year-old woman and their 2-year-old son.
Tucson Fire wants to remind the public to never use a torch as a way to remove weeds from the yard.
