Arizona drive-in closes after nearly 60 years
Nine on Your Side's Guy Atchley snapped this shot while visiting the theatre one of the last nights that people could enjoy the cinema under the stars.
GLOBE, Ariz. (AP) - One of the last drive-in theaters in Arizona has closed.
KSAZ-TV reports that the Apache Drive-In theatre in Globe showed its last movie on Saturday after nearly six decades.
Apache Drive-in owner Bob Hollis says it costs too much to keep up with the times, especially since movies have gone digital.
The closing drew long-time fans who came dressed in poodle skirts and brought classic cars.
Officials say the only drive-in movie theater in Arizona now is in Glendale.
