TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - For its next set of men's basketball threads, the Arizona Wildcats will be drawing from its championship past.
Collaborating with Nike, the Wildcats have generated five new looks that replicate and update their uniforms from the mid 1990s.
Back are the side paneling and trim the team wore when it won the national title in 1997 and finished as runner-up in 2001.
The new Nike Elite Fit 2.0 uniforms include white trimmed with navy, white trimmed with red, navy trimmed with red, red trimmed with navy and gray trimmed with both navy and red.
"Our entire team is excited about receiving these new uniforms," senior T.J. McConnell said in a news release. "Not only are they going to look great, but the technology that went into making them will benefit us on the court. So many great players in Arizona history wore similar uniforms, and it's nice to be able to honor them while we try to do some of the same great things on the court."
The uniforms are made to be lightweight. The jerseys expand the cactus-based aerographic over the entire back, and the four-way stretch woven shorts feature laser perforations and ventilation throughout. The shorts are 66 percent lighter and dry 30 percent faster than before.
