Are the popular kids impervious to bullying?
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The popular kids are often cast as the bullies in pop culture.
But here's a surprise, being popular may actually make you the target.
A new study finds that climbing the social ladder at school can increase the risk of being bullied.
University of California-Davis researchers say teens in the middle of the school social hierarchy who "moved up" in the popularity ranks were 25% more likely to be bullied.
But there was a payoff for the long "climb up" in social status.
Researchers discovered that once teens reached the top, they were practically bully proof.
