TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) -- A new study published in the British Medical Journal says yearly mammograms don't reduce the risk of death from breast cancer.
It also confirms earlier findings that many abnormalities detected by these X-rays would never have proved fatal, even if untreated.
Scientists didn't find any reduction in breast cancer from mammograms- in any age group they studied.
They say mammograms only increase perceived survival time not the actual course of the disease.
