PIMA COUNTY (KGUN9-TV) - The parents of the 1-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in the tub in Oro Valley spoke out for the first time Tuesday, with an important message to share.
"Love those around you because you never know when they'll be gone," said Jesse Martinez, the father.
Clutching his ashes and surrounded by family, Jesse and Jessica Martinez remembered the short life of their 15-month-old son Michael Max.
"He had this smile and these big dimples," Jessica Martinez shared.
On November 2, Oro Valley Police said they received a 911 call that the child was in a bathtub and was not breathing. Crews were unable to revive Michael.
"You could lose a life at any second," Jesse Martinez said. "Anybody could go at any time and people forget."
At Michael's candlelight vigil at Children's Memorial Park, Jessica Martinez shares her emotional message to parents.
"Kiss your kids everyday. Don't let a moment go they don't know you love them. Kiss them every single day; hug them every single day, every moment you have."
Police are still investigating exactly what caused Michael's death. Detectives and the family are waiting on an autopsy report.
