TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A pair of Tucson parents came forward with some shocking accusations, of a daycare employee abusing their 4-year-old boy.
They say she called him 'dumb', 'stupid' and locked him in a restroom alone to scream.
What was the boy's crime? He tore pages in a book.
"He brings this shredded book that he shredded up," said Antoinette.
last week, when Robert and Antionette Wiglesworth picked up their son Bryce from Children's Learning Adventure near Valencia and Palo Verde, they did the talking at first.
"He was going to take money out of his piggy bank to replace the book," said Antoinette.
Then, Bryce spoke up.
"She dragged him by the ear and locked him in the bathroom," she said.
And the teacher's tirade didn't end there.
"She called him 'dumb', called him 'stupid'," said Robert. "(She said) 'You keep acting like this, you're never going to have any friends'."
At first, he was stunned.
"I thought he was making it up or exaggerating," he said.
But when other parents said their kids saw the punishment, stunned turned to horrified.
9OYS reporter Maggie Vespa asked, "Do you consider this abuse?"
"Yes I do," said Robert. "I do," agreed Antoinette.
Vespa asked Bryce, "Did it hurt when your ear got pulled on?"
Wiglesworth asked his son, "Were you sad?"
He nodded again.
Managers at Children's Learning Adventure wouldn't comment on this story, instead forwarding 9OYS' questions to corporate.
As of Tuesday night, we had not heard back.
The Wiglesworths say the daycare promised to investigate, but that wasn't enough.
They have since pulled both kids out, and they have a message for parents whose kids come home with a stunning story.
"There might be something more to their story," said Robert. "You just don't know. Your kid may be being abused."
The Wiglesworths tell us that the staff member is no longer at Children's Learning Adventure.
Managers would not confirm that detail.
