Area near McKale all clear after report of a gunman, ongoing investigation

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - University of Arizona Police searched the area near McKale center after reports came in of a man with a rifle, but did not find anyone.
A text UAlert went out saying the suspect was described as Hispanic, 6'0'', 175 pounds, wearing dark clothing and a backpack and carrying a rifle on the first level of the Cherry Garage.
Police searched the area but did not find the suspect at Cherry Garage.
The garage is back open for use, but UAPD tells KGUN9 this is an active, ongoing investigation. They are asking people on campus to be alert, but no lockdowns are in place.
Tucson Police also received a 911 call about a man with a gun near Speedway and Campbell but have not confirmed whether these two situations are connected.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with TPD says the call came in at about 2:30 p.m. and the caller said they saw someone with a silver gun.
Officers searched the area but did not find the suspect or the person who called 911.
Widmer says TPD is looking into the possibility that this was a hoax, but they are not calling it that yet.

2:56 p.m. - Police on scene at McKale/Cherry Garage. Subject described as Hispanic male/6'/175 lbs/Black T-shirt/shorts/backpack/rifle. Avoid area
3:09 p.m. - Individual reported with rifle not located by police search @ garage. McKale/Cherry garage is open for use.
3:21 p.m. - Subject reported w/ gun NOT found during police search of McKale/Cherry Garage and immediate area. ALL CLEAR
