SOUTH TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - One man has died as a result of his injuries after a shooting took place on late Wednesday night.
Lt. Jeff Inorio with South Tucson tells KGUN9 that officers responded to the McDonald’s 1901 South 6th Avenue regarding a man with a gun.
While responding to the scene, officers heard two gun shots and then they arrived on scene, they located the 35-year-old Francisco Gonzalez-Alvarez in the parking lot suffering from gunshot injuries.
Gonzalez-Alvarez was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Inorio.
Officers also located Zoran Medic, 22, still in possession of a gun. He was detained without incident.
The investigation revealed that a minor traffic accident occurred in the drive-thru between Medic and Gonzalez-Alvarez. A verbal and physical altercation occurred outside of the vehicles in the parking lot.
It appears Medic retrieved a handgun from his vehicle, and a brief struggle ensued and Medic discharged the weapon, striking Gonzalez-Alvarez, said Inorio.
Medic has been charged with one count of second degree murder.
