TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - There's a new law in town...actually, there are hundreds of them. The majority of Arizona's 256 new laws take effect Friday.
The hefty stack of laws are changing how you drive, text and pay taxes. Some Tucsonans are in favor while others are not.
Nine On Your Side brings you our top 5, in no particular order.
1. Speed cameras
They aren't popular in Tucson, and while they're here to stay on the city streets, a new law says they aren't allowed on state roads unless ADOT can prove they actually reduce speed and wrecks.
2. Unsolicited text messages
It's now illegal to use automated equipment to send text messages offering a product or service.
3. State taxes on braces
Keyla's parents never paid state sales tax for her metal braces, but Sierra's parents had to for Invisalign -- until now. The new law states invisible braces are no longer subject to the tax.
4. Minors and e-cigs
The up-and-coming smoking trend is now for adults only.
5. DUI ignition interlock
Convicted drunk drivers can no longer opt for daily alcohol testing instead of ignition interlock.
