One dead, one injuried in motorcycle collision; deputies searching for third rider
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - One man is dead and another man suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision involving two motorcycles.
Deputy Tracy Suitt with Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 that on September 7, deputies responded to a collision involving two motorcycles on Bopp Road west of Kinney Road.
When deputies arrived, they learned 53-year-old Michael Bell and a friend were riding their
motorcycles westbound on Bopp Road from Kinney Road.
A third motorcycle, ridden by a 59-year-old man, was also westbound on Bopp road behind Bell and his friend. The third motorycle driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing cars in a no passing zone, said Suitt.
When the third motorycle driver reached Bell’s motorcycle, the two collided, causing both riders to lose control and crash.
The third motorycle driver and Bell were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment with life-threatening injuries.
Bell was pronounced deceased at the hospital and Kidd is in serious condition, said Suitt.
Speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the collision. Both men were not wearing helmets.
The person riding with Bell did not stop following the collision, said Suitt. Traffic investigators would like to speak to the person who was riding with Bell.
