OVPD, FBI say threat to Ironwood Ridge HS false alarm

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Oro Valley Police are investigating a potential threat to Ironwood Ridge High School that was posted online.
Lt. Kara Riley with OVPD tells KGUN9 the department learned of the threat today.
It involved a map of the school with the words "In a week from now, the whole world will know this high school."
Riley says the department is deploying all resources to investigate this potential threat, but they are still at the preliminary stages of their investigation.
Police are working closely with the school district and plan to bring this to a safe ending.
OVPD criminal investigations unit immediately began investigating the threat, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
Through their investigation, it was learned the author of the posting was a minor child and that there was no malicious intent to the posting and no criminal violations of the law.
OVPD would like to thank the public for their proactive involvement in this case, said Riley.
