TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A woman was injured after she accidentally drove her vehicle into a building on the northside Wednesday night.
Capt. Adam Goldberg with the Northwest Fire Department tells KGUN9 that a 66-year-old woman drove her vehicle into a dry cleaners near the Safeway grocery store at Linda Vista Blvd and Thornydale Road just before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The woman's 7-year-old grandson was in the backseat of the car. She attempted to park her car outside of the Super Cleaners and hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes, according to Goldberg.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Her grandson was not injured, Goldberg said.
The owner of the store was standing at the counter when the accident occured. He was not injured, according to Goldberg.
People in nearby stores say their buildings shook. They say it felt like an earthquake.
The dry cleaners will stay closed as they work on repairs. Goldberg says the Safeway store and all other stores in the shopping center will remain open.
