24-year-old man arrested for approaching two women on campus
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged after his interaction with two female on the University of Arizona campus.
Joe Bermudez with UAPD tells KGUN9 that on August 12, two female University of Arizona students reported they were approached by a suspicious man near the area of Mountain Avenue and First Street.
The man asked the students some questions which made them feel uncomfortable. The students then went inside their home, said Bermudez.
A short time later, the man knocked on the door of the residence. When the door was opened he asked one of the students if he could "hang out". Feeling uncomfortable, the student closed the door and immediately called police.
Officers with UAPD made contact with the subject who was identified as 24-year-old Gabriel Herrera.
Herrera had previous contact with UAPD for trespassing and has an active exclusionary order which prohibited him from being on any properties owned, leased, rented, or controlled by the University of Arizona and the Arizona Board of Regents.
Herrera was arrested and booked for loitering and criminal trespassing, said Bermudez.
Police ask that if you see Herrera on any University of Arizona properties please call UAPD by dialing 911.
