TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Meet Fred and Barney, an inseparable pair of misfit canines.
Their previous owner turned Fred, the pit bull, and Barney, the chihuahua, over to Pima Animal Care Center 10 days ago.
The pair grew up together and are so bonded, PACC representatives couldn't separate one from the other without them crying or whimpering.
Unfortunately, both have kennel cough and PACC told Nine On Your Side on Monday that if a rescue or foster group didn't pick them up that day, they would be euthanized.
"In the Arms of Angels," a local dog and cat rescue group, swooped in to save the day and Fred and Barney's lives.
"It broke my heart to hear about them and I wanted to do something to help," Christine Biberdorf said. "I just want to help them find good homes."
For now, Fred and Barney are in Biberdorf's care. The goal is to get the pair adopted together.
