Man arrested for impersonating a public servant
MARANA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - James Patrick Brown, 49, has been arrested for impersonating a public servant.
Sgt. Jose Alvarez with Marana Police tells KGUN9 that while assisting with the funeral procession of fallen Granite Mountain Firefighter William Warneke, Marana Police Officers spoke to Brown, who was in a restricted area of the procession.
Brown stated he was an employee of the Tucson Fire Departments Fleet Services and was authorized to be in the procession, said Alvarez.
Marana Police learned Brown was not an employee of the Tucson Fire Department.
At the time of his arrest, Brown was wearing a Tucson Fire Department t-shirt and hat, and had a TFD Captain and a City of Wickenburg Fire Department badge in his possession, said Alvarez.
An investigation into Brown came into the possession of the badges is ongoing.
Brown has been booked on one count of impersonating a public servant. He was also wanted on an outstanding felony warrant issued out Maricopa County for theft.
