TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for multiple counties in southern Arizona.
The severe thunderstorm watch effects Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz and Maricopa counties. The watch will remain in effect until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.
A severe thunderstorm warning is still in effect for south-central Santa Cruz County.
People have reported seeing golf ball sized hail and high winds about seven miles east of Nogales, according to NWS.
The storm is moving west at 10 mph.
First Warning Meteorologist Aaron Brackett says the atmosphere is hopding much more moisture than yesterday and wind speeds several thousand feet will support vigorous storm growth. Some areas that saw morning clouds changed over to sunshine later in the day which will also act to fuel storms as they move in from the north.
