Recent pedestrian accident turns fatal

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man who was struck by a vehicle while crossing an eastside intersection last week has died of injuries sustained in the accident.
Just after 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, officers responded to an accident near East Grant Road and North Arcadia Avenue after a vehicle struck a pedestrian, according to Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department.
Widmer tells KGUN9 that the first-responded officers located a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, traffic detectives determined that the driver of a 2001Oldsmobile struck the pedestrian, 45-year-old Eddie Sagastume, while he was crossing Grant Road, according to Widmer.
Sagastume died from his injuries Wednesday, July 3. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, Widmer said.
The investigation into the accident is still on-going.
