PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer has ordered Arizona state flags be flown at half-staff until sunset Wednesday in honor of the 19 members of a Hot Shot Team killed while fighting the Yarnell wildfire.
Brewer is flying to nearby Prescott Monday morning, where she plans to attend a press conference.
Brewer's statement announcing the flag lowering says the state has lost some of its bravest firefighters, and she says the day will be forever etched in Arizona's memory as one of the state's darkest and most devastating days.
She says it's a reminder of the constant peril that firefighters selflessly face while protecting the public.
