TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Another dangerous warning tonight: dust with the possibility of low visibility along the I-10.
There have been reports of wind gusts between 50 to 70 miles per hour.
First came the heavy rain, then there was a dust storm warning on our cell phones telling us to stay home, but we were already on the road.
We had to grip the steering wheel tightly in order for our car not to swerve off the road.
Wind was gusting, rain was pounding, and windshields were covered with rain.
"It's a little scary," said Sierra Mahar as she pulled over to get gas. "The lightning's everywhere, the wind's blowing, things are flying across the road."
But Sierra said, she's not surprised by the storm or its intensity.
Others, though, were taken aback.
"It's monsoon season," another driver, John Delmar, told Nine On Your Side. "I wasn't expecting it till the Forth of July area, but other than that, it came as a surprise."
A surprise and a long, potentially dangerous glimpse into what this year's monsoon could look like.
