Drexel Heights responds to near drowning
PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Drexel Heights Fire District responded to a near drowning incident Thursday with a 9-month-old baby.
Tracy Koslowski with Drexel Heights tells KGUN9 that the incident happened in the 6300 block of west Copper Leap, near Ajo and Camino Verde.
The mother of the baby called 911 after she saw the boy struggling in their above ground pool.
The pool was located just outside the back patio door.
The mother performed CPR on the child who was unresponsive, but when crews arrived, the baby was conscious and crying.
He was taken to UAMC.
This is the ninth water related incident in Pima County so far this year.
Drexel Heights would like to remind the community to remember the ABC's of pool safety: adult supervision, barriers around the pool and CPR classes.
