Deputy finds shooting victim in crashed car
Anthony Acuna was arrested in connection with a shooting incident that took place June 20.
PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A deputy found a man with a gunshot wound in his car Wednesday after seeing the man swerve off the road.
Deputy Jesus Banuelos with the Pima County Sheriff's Department tells KGUN9 on June 19, deputies responded to the 3000 block of West Wyoming Street regarding shots fired.
While responding, deputies received information that a detective working an unrelated incident, observed a vehicle drive off the road and hit a tree.
As the detective approached the vehicle, he discovered a male in the driver's seat.
The driver was asked if he was okay and he advised that he had been shot, said Banuelos. He was transported to University of Arizona Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
Detectives confirmed the vehicle involved in the collision, was associated with the original shots fired call.
Deputies confirmed the identity of 26-year-old Anthony Acuna in connection with the shooting. He was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
