TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police say a Tucson woman shot and killed her 58-year-old husband inside their southeast side suburban home.

It happened Monday night, just before 9 p.m., in the 10500 block of Bridgeport Street.

Police have arrested and charged 58-year-old Susan Thacker with second degree murder. She is accused of killing her husband, Gregory Thacker.

According to reports, the couple had been fighting for hours. No one else was inside the home at the time of the shooting.

"[Mrs. Thacker] actually called 911 to report essentially that the shots were fired inside her residence and she waited outside for officers to arrive," Tucson Police Department Sgt. Maria Hawke said.

Sandy Meadows has lived next door to the Thacker family for seven years. She says her teenage grandson initially heard the gunshot.

"You think you live in a nice area [and] you have nice neighbors. You never know what goes on," Meadows told 9OYS, visibly shaken.

Thacker has been booked into the Pima County Jail.
