TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Remember him? The man at the center of the "You Deserve Rape" controversy at the University of Arizona is now at a pool near you.
"They showed up and ruined the day for everyone," said Sandra Turner.
It happened at Mansfield Pool, a pool full of children. But this time the signs were different.
"Parents were very upset because our children didn't need to be seeing that," said Turner.
Parents like Turner tell 9OYS this time the signs said, "You deserve hell," "Trust in Jesus", and "You deserve STD's". Today we tracked down Dean Saxton to find out what he was thinking.
"I try to battle immodesty and tell the kids about Jesus," said Saxton.
But parents say that's not what happened. They want the preacher no where near their children. In cell video shot by Saxton that day, you see two men at the pool confront him. Parents tell him that he's provoking people. Saxton is heard saying he's not provoking but only talking about God.
Lifeguards try to deal with the situation, tell them to leave. And that's when this story takes an unexpected turn.
"I was under the water and she didn't know that," said Mariah, Turner's daughter. "I was scared."
Maria could have drowned says her mother. She says the preaching punks kept lifeguards distracted.
"It takes the attention away from the children," said Turner.
Things got so out of hand, lifeguards call 911, but by the time officers arrive, the preachers were gone.
"I don't want those guys to come back," said Mariah. "They're mean."
But legally keeping them away from the public pools could be a tricky challenge.
Dean tells 9OYS he will continue to preach at public pools. TPD says there's not much they can do if he's on public property. He's entitled to free speech.
