Rancher arrested on road to Grand Canyon Skywalk

CREATED Jun. 5, 2013

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A northern Arizona rancher who has charged tourists to drive through his land to reach the Grand Canyon Skywalk has been arrested and accused of threatening construction workers.
Mohave County sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter says deputies arrested Nigel Turner Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly intimated to construction workers that he had a gun.
Carter says Turner faces a misdemeanor charge of threatening or intimidating. She says he was release from jail after posting bail late Tuesday night.
The Hualapai Tribe operates the Skywalk and has protested Turner's charging of the $20 per person fee.
He says he's acting within his rights because an easement for public access has expired, though federal officials disagree.
It wasn't immediately known if Turner has a lawyer.
